Fibromyalgia
AN HYPNOTHERAPY effectively aid fibromyalgia? The answer is a
resounding YES! It can. Can EFT aid this syndrome? YES! It can.
First we need to look at fibromyalgia. What is it? This is a chronic pain disorder which effects most commonly the upper parts of the body, the neck, spine, hands, arms and shoulders, though not confined to these areas of the body and can effect other areas. The syndrome causes general fatigue and sleep disruptions due to the constant pain and discomfort, which flucutates from day to day. It can affect anybody though it is more common in women. It occurs in all age groups and in ethnic backgrounds. Other side effects include incapacitation, loss of income, depression, and low self-esteem
Two key factors usually indicate the presence of fibromyalgia. The first is that you experience pain or discomfort for a minimum of three months in all four quadrants of the body. Secondly, your body has eighteen "trigger points." If eleven or more of these cause pain when pressure is manually applied then it is a likelihood you are indeed suffering from this syndrome albiet both key factors must come into play here.
Very often those having this syndrome unfortunately go to their doctors who misdiagnose it for other causes. Some have been diagnosed as having conjured the pain up in their minds (aka. hypercondriatic.) It often takes years to obtain an accurate diagnosis as the only real way for such diagnosis comes from patient histories. Being a relatively new consideration in the medical industry, many doctors are still relatively uninformed about fibromyalgia. Due to the nature of fibromyalgia being undetectable by conventional diagnostic tools, it can become very costly because it persists dispite treatments.
The syndrome is thought to be brought on by illness or other trauma to the body which results in a hyper-reactive nervous system. This is now under extensive research and no real conclusion has been reached. If you suffer from this syndrome or think you may be, then hypnotherapy and EFT may be right for you.
Hypnotherapy focuses on the psychological aspect of pain control through heightened receptiveness to suggestion. Deep hypnotic relaxation has been said to be similar in certain ways to yoga or meditation done by those who have mastered these arts. Studies show that hypnosis and hypnotherapy can effectively calm the physical being and at the same time, on the subconscious level, control the pain, making it bearable and even eliminating it altogether.
EFT works on decreasing the pain and disomfort and makes it more tolerable. It can also change your perception of yourself and circumstances from being helpless to being in control and making your own decisions about your health and healthcare.
Both can be learned and self-adiministered. They both employ accessing the subconsious mind, when mastered, can bring about great success in virtually every aspect of life.
