Children's Issues

CHILDREN are always a constant reminder of the well-known human trait we all know as imagination. Imagination helps children (and adults) realize what is outside the reality. It is through another attribute we possess, freedom of choice, that enables us to go where we will with our subconscious minds. The world around children plays on their little minds as if they were a screen upon which gentle or harsh strokes are applied. A child's personality begins to form in the home - if our homes were all sound environments in which the children could develop and grow, it would be the beginning of a nearly-invinable nation.

As adults we have grown up in a world of illusions. We have learned to tolerate, accept, and adapt to the constant surge of negative illusions that come from the newsmedia, movies and television programming. Often we (who view such programming) forget that the mind of a child is just like a sponge, taking in everything and forming life-long personality traits based on them. In a child's imaginary mind, all sorts of problems can result. For the most part, dysfunctional family settings coupled with constant negative messaging coming from the media usually results in children with unbalanced views on life.

As a young child gets older this imagery becomes perminantly a part of his or her belief system of the world. The parents and other adults members of the family may not not see the insidious affects mass media has on youngsters, since their personalities have also been formed around the ideals of the media. Some of the damage, caused by television and other media, to the minds of children may go completely unnoticed and the resulting behavior can be mistaken for simple unruliness or rebellion. Two different worlds portrayed, the real and the illusionary, may cause confusion. Children attempt to act accordingly, and their world becomes more dysfunctional. Very often mass-media does not line-up with reality.

The child enters school. There the child is bombarded with new messages, both positive and negative from teachers, administrators, and peers. For the most part, most of these people are also strongly influenced by the mass media and are not trained to see the corrilations between this and behaviorial problems in children.

Already at this point, the child has learned how to become fearful from seeing all the war and violence images that spew from the cold-hearted orb that dominates the center of the household. It comes from newscasts, reality shows, movies, and even programming designed for children. Distorted views on life not only inflict children, but adults as well, and these views are readily picked up by the children.

Children pick up these messages and what goes in comes out. From the messages, through children who see the messages, it is not uncommon to see them act out what they have learned. Not knowing what is right and what is wrong, fears, bad habits, generally, unbalanced views on life result. This can lead to disaster if it is not recognized and corrected.

Children generally react better to hypnotherapy than do adults due to the imagination function which they make more use of. When we daydream and use imagination, we are using hypnosis to carry out this process. Hypnotherapy can address behaviorial, fear, habit, learning, and social problems. The hypnotherapist goes through vigorous training to be able to delicately administer to children, bringing out the sources that originally caused the behaviorial problems and replacing them with new, sound, and balanced views on life and habits.
